Get Snow Ready

After the last snow storm, the "blizzard of 2010", people are prepping for the next snow fall.

Starting tonight, we are set to get SNOW on Long Island. Yesterday I heard it was 6-9 inches, this AM it was 8-10, now I'm hearing up to 20 inches! My goodness! Are we prepared? Well I sure hope the towns plow this time, and don't plow in my driveway, like last year!

The National Weather Service has issued a storm warning for Long Island, the warning is in effect from 7p.m. tonight, until 6p.m. Wednesday. 10-15 inches of snow is expected, and wind gusts up to 35 m.p.h.

Tips for Winter/Snow Safety

  • Stock up (Food items like bread, eggs, canned goods, cereal, milk, and alcohol, and first aid supplies if you do not have any, medicines, etc.)
  • Get your shovels ready (shovel every 5-10 inches or so) and get rock salt/sand too
  • Make sure your car gas tank if filled up
  • Have cash on hand
Use common sense, and stay off the roads!

In an emergency call 911.
